Discarded Bottle Fish
One man’s junk is another man’s giant fish sculpture, so the saying goes (I’m sure somebody, somewhere, at some point said that). Set on the sunny Botafogo beach in Rio de Janeiro, this hugenormous light installation is constructed from illuminated discarded bottles, as part of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development. Check out some more shots at this flickr set by Ascom Riotur: flickr.

Favorite Jeff/Britta scenes S01XE14
Britta:[gasp] ….Flowers!
Jeff: yeah..is that..that is what people do..right?
Excuse me for rambling, but it is moments like this that made me really care about this ship. Staring with Jeff, you can tell that these are parts of human interaction that he does not understand. Navigating the world of selfless gifts and supporting the people you love is foreign to him, and yet here he was, trying to get it right for his friend. Not confident that he can make her happy, but trying anyway. Then there is Britta, who’s amazing reaction wasn’t completely giffed. She looks like she is about to cry. Like she was never given anything more precious…and she is genuinely shocked and pleased that Jeff would even bother to remember her even though he has “moved on”. The whole scene was an exceptionally beautiful example of how these two characters have helped each other grow as people.
